Minnesota’s only professional soccer franchise is adopting a brand new persona, rebranding themselves as the Minnesota United FC, formerly the Minnesota Stars FC. The change is the result of ownership shifting hands. The new owner is former UnitedHealth Group CEO and philanthropist Dr. Bill McGuire.

The unveiling of the new logo and uniform was made today at the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis, with the North American Soccer League (NASL) commissioner, Mayor R.T. Rybak, Mayor Chris Coleman, and McGuire all in attendance.

The United will showcase their new avian-style brand when they kick off the 2013 schedule against the San Antonio Scorpions at the Metrodome April 6.
