Drought conditions in Minnesota are worsening across the state. And with exposed river banks and wetlands going dry, the Department of Natural Resources is asking people to take measures to conserve water usage.
Minnesota is experiencing the worst drought in years. KSTP 5 Eyewitness News reported parts of the state have missed as much as two summertime month’s worth of rain.
According to the DNR, about one-half of Minnesota is categorized as a severe drought. And because Minnesota uses on average more water than many other states, we need to be more careful with water usage.
So what can you do to help conserve water? According to the Metropolitan Council of Minnesota it can be as easy as spending less time in the shower.
