With the new Vikings Stadium moving into the neighborhood, Armory owner Doug Hoskin thought it was the perfect time for an upgrade. The Strib writes that though the large, hangar-like structure has witnessed some very famous patrons (from military drills to the last days of the Lakers and even a Prince music video), it’s been serving as a parking lot for the past few years. Hoskin hopes to transform the space into a versatile event center in the heart of downtown. Originally built in 1935 with funds from the Public Works Administration, the building likely has some hidden architectural gems. For now though, workers will have to sift through dead pigeons and dirt.
