Stuff About Minneapolis: The Northern Spark nuit blanche participatory art festival begins Saturday evening, 6/4, in Minneapolis. The overnight fest will feature “multi-story projections, audio environments with vistas, floating works on barges, houseboats and paddleboats, headphone concerts, and the use of everything from bioluminescent algae and sewer pipes for organs to more traditional media such as banjos and puppets.”

I bet there are some artists and designers who need the work. Why don’t they hire somebody to do the manhole covers? The economy is stinkin’ up the joint again.

@Rat: Given the change in political climate on Da Range, working for free is more in-line with the Tea Party philosophy, isn’t it? I mean, the private sector can always do the job cheaper … or so we have been told by those who support free-markets. Why spend public dollars (again, public monies are an anathema wrt Tea Party politics) when, gosh, darn it, you can get somebody to do the work w/o having taxpayers support someone like an “artist.” OMG, the Tea Party hates art, anyway. [/sarcasm]
Get with the program, Rat! This is the future under the Tea Party. No taxpayer money for nuthin’! Nuthin’, I tell ya! If your street needs repair, get out your own damn shovel to repair it. If you need a manhole cover, cast your own … or cover the hole with a sheet of plywood.
