When Pedro’s Luggage closed down in 2009 they donated the building and the land to the city, and demolition finally began last Friday. The soon-to-be empty space at 10th and Robert will become a new park, which is something this end of downtown St Paul could really use.

Does that mean St. Paul doesn’t need the tax revenue? Or, just doesn’t need it as much as a park?
Good for Pedro, I suppose. They name the park after him.

“Does that mean St. Paul doesn’t need the tax revenue?” – The way I read it, the creation of a park was a condition of the donation of the land. Although folks seem to disagree on whether a park is “needed” right there.

That’s the way I read it, too.

Get a grip, folks! The City’s relationship with the owners came with some baggage. I hope I’m making my case…

We were talking about this at lunch, sitting across the street at Black Sheep Pizza. It will be a nice place for a park, especially if the Lunds goes in kitty corner from it. Get lunch at Lunds and eat at the park sounds like a perfect plan in the summer. Also, good for my co-workers with service animals. It will be a much nicer place for them to bring the dogs to go potty.

…as long as they clean up after Fido, I have no problems with that.

Is there a way for a blind person to tell if a service animal did that, Bob? Seems like they can develop something for anything these days. So maybe they have a device.

Feed your pup certain foods and you won’t need eyes to know when it’s time. Trust me on this one.
