Sounds like City Hall heard an earful about the property tax increases. Hizzoner RT just sent out a press release that outlines two plans to cut the budget for the city of Minneapolis by $6 million and also attempts to have a long-term impact to lower increases in property taxes.

City Council President Barbara Johnson and Council Member Betsy Hodges, chair of the Ways and Means Committee, also support the two plans which differ based on the inclusion of the Local Government Aid from the state.  The largest parts of the cuts target $1.4 million to the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, $1.1 million for Target Center capital projects, and $2 million to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
