[Details here via PiPress] Deborah Howell spent many years working for Twin Cities newspapers — first as a reporter and editor at the Star-Tribune, then as managing and executive editor of the Pioneer-Press during which time the paper won two Pulitzer Prizes. She moved on to Washington in 1990 to lead the Newhouse News Service DC bureau and, in 2006, joined the Washington Post as ombudsman. She retired at the end of 2008. She was regarded as one of the pioneering women in newspaper management.
