Via Mr. Moe on twitter, in light of today’s Secrets pick of Brian Oake and Jake Rudh’s tribute to REV 105 at Kings Wine Bar, here’s an old skool City Pages article on the aftermath of the switch from REV 105 to ZONE 105 and 93.7 “The Edge” to 93X so you can catch up on some of your recent radio history.

Also, the article was written by James Diers, from The Love Cars, my favorite local band of all time.

It happened so long ago the REV playlist almost qualifies now as “oldies.” 😉
(It’s true. The music you grew up with in high school becomes the new “oldies” format 15-20 years later.)
But, yeah, the REV was one of radio’s last hoorah’s for locally-focused, free-form programming. It all really started to fall completely apart after the 1996 Telecomm bill was signed.

Yep, without a doubt. In my 20s they were the perfect band for me. No other band came close. Plus they used to cover my favorite Bjork song “Hyperballad” at shows. It kicked ass. In an emo way. 🙂
