There’s due diligence to the process and there’s playing politics. Tom Emmer just his held a press conference to announce he’s doing the latter under the guise of the former; he’ll continue to wait out the recount process and see what the state Supreme Court has to say about reconciling registrations with ballots. That’s fine, except Rachel SB at the STrib says that GOP Chair Tony Sutton and Emmer “have blurred lines between ‘reconcilliation’ and updating of state registration database.” Also, fun fact, as reported by MPR’s Tom Scheck, the Emmer camp “has filed 3573 ballots (frivolous and legit). Dayton had a 8770 vote lead before recount started”.

Ugh. You know what this means? They’ll continue contesting ballots until they’ve found something — or nothing — to question on 8771 of them.

You can sense a growing frustration among the Capitol Press Corps regarding Emmer, who is becoming something of a Doubtful Guest at the post-election party.

just out of curiousity, i searched Powerline for the last mention of Emmer. It was November 4. take that for what you will.

I was listening to the discussion of the reconciliation issue. Basically the registrations will almost never match the ballots cast because some people are not listed on the registration rolls like women with protection orders. I wish this douche bag would go back to suing his friends and business partners or just become the Paul Allen impersonator his was destined to be.

thing it, since basically, anyone living in the state can file an election contest, it doesn’t really matter what Emmer says.

@Dougie_D: Plus, there are always those same-day registrants.
Btw, I wonder how many absentee ballots were cast?

CNN has called it.

Good luck, Minnesota. To use an analogy that you’d appreciate Dougie: Let’s hope this guy’s Combination Plate isn’t missing a burrito.
December 4, 2010 at 2:09 pm
@Rat: Well, we already know the other guy probably wouldn’t have ordered a burrito in the first place. Let’s see if Emmer now disputes the verdict, because that would be really funny if he did. We’ll see now if the Legislature will either be cooperative or ornery SOBs.

Tony Sutton ate his burrito and about 37 other peoples burritos.

He ate the Democrat’s burrito, that’s for sure.
