Joan Vorderbruggen and her partner in creative placemaking Liseli Polivka present a slideshow about their experiences in Detroit hobnobbing with inspiring artists and organizers who are revitalizing communities around the country. Vorderbruggen ran the Minneapolis “Made Here” project that turned the empty storefronts of Block E over to artists. Tonight she and Polivka talk about what they saw at a recent Detroit UIX conference, followed by a screening of “Come Unto Me: The Faces of Tyree Gutton.” It’s a documentary by Nicole Cattell about Gutton’s controversial Heidelberg Project that has drawn attention to Detroit’s Heidelberg Street for decades. 7 PM.
