When WAK LYF called it quits last week, we mourned the loss of throwback dance nights that come with matching tech trippy visuals. But then we remembered the surreptitious ’90s Preservation Society, which is basically a collective that wanted to reminisce about grunge and old hip-hop before it got cool. They’re celebrating the end of 2K13 in the cleverest way: by recalling the phenomenon that was Willenium at the Eagles Club this Friday. There won’t be the drama that comes with the usual New Year’s Eve rigamarole, though they are remembering that special changeover 14 years ago. But there will be Prince, and plenty of girl groups with attitude, and maybe some clips of Carson Daly before he got skinny? One can hope. The Eagles Club always shuts down a bit early, so feel free to make later plans, or call it an early night. 9 p.m. $3. —EK
