To be fair, we’ve been laying into the Christmas spirit of late. What can we say, there are plenty of great local plays making light of the more tedious aspects of the merriest season. But there’s a certain elation in really immersing yourself in the stuff (and we don’t want you to think we’re obstinately cranky). Letting go of irony and Twitter, and enjoying the tropes of the holiday, not least of which we mean: the Christmas special. Chanhassen presents a live version all weekend in the vein of Andy Williams and favorite SNL source material, Lawrence Welk. Glee aired its holiday likeness a while back (you know you liked that a little bit) and now Chanhassen presents “Home for the Holidays.” As it is Chanhassen, it’s sure to be full of high-quality singing. You’re bound to indulge some nostalgia if you bring your babysitter (Mom) along with. There will be Santa. Prepare accordingly. 8 p.m. $40. —EK
