We’re such suckers for a good gimmicky name. From a young age, Minnesnowtans learn to use “ope!” for everything—excuse me, oops, damn it, etc.—and wide-ranging music maker, lyricist, and frequent collaborator Eric Mayson taps into that local zeitgeist for his newest record, Ōp-Nope, a musical statement on change and movement. The album kicks off with a beat- and zap-filled jam called “People Move!” and goes on from there through chiller electro-soul tracks like “Breathe Easy” and even sexy jazzy spots like “Fine Comb. (Just give it a listen, actually.) Join him and his cohorts Aby Wolf, Ted Olson, and Theo Langason for an up-close performance at Icehouse of material from the highly anticipated new album. Friday, March 8th, 11 PM. $8.King Rojas
