“I hate $4 Fulton beers, drool-inspiring goat cheese and fig appetizers and rock-your-socks-off live music,” said no one, ever. If you’re in the mood for $4 local brews and some foot-tappin’ blue-collar jams, head down to the Astor Café to see Billy Johnson and the B-Team.

Johnson takes his feel-good music to a new level with friend and Soul Asylum rockstar, George McKelvey. Their catchy melodies and easygoing attitudes will remind you why underrated local artists are worth seeking out on a Friday night. Johnson and The B-Team will perform an all-acoustic set highlighting their 2007 album, Suburban Boy Blues. A fair warning: a few covers have been known to slip in that may tempt you to join in the singing. Do your vocal warm-ups on the way over. 9 p.m. $8. —SH
