Twin Cities Tattoos

Erica points out this astounding tattoo of Minneapolis burning, which got me to wondering if there are any other tattoos of the Twin Cities, or related subjects, out there. Here's one. And some MPLS knuckles. This guy seems to have a Minnesota viking tattooed on his inner arm, although it is not the first thing you look at in the photo. Here's a tattoo of Prince. Here's a tattoo in memory of Paul Wellstone. I don't know what this (NSFW) has to do with the Twin Cities, aside from being shot here, but I thought I should share it.

What's the best tattoo you've seen locally, and where do you go for your tattooing needs?

I haven't seen any good MPLS tats that I can remember, but I did recently have a tattoo of Josh Hartnett in a Prince t-shirt removed from my left ass cheek. I still have the fist with MPLS across the knuckles across the other cheek though. That one gives me street cred.

I like the first one, though I can't say I'd choose the "Halo Tower" as my third choice of buildings to put in there.

Also, if you do a google search of "Pistol Vegas", it returns a few NSFW pictures right off the bat. Or, at least I think it does. I saw the first picture almost load and closed it immediately because it was what looked like a crotch shot. For all I know it was an armpit.

I've been to Uptown Tattoo a few times, but Steve left and I haven't been back since.

My brother has four Minnesota related tattoos. On one sleeve he has the MPLS skyline in the background and a guy on his bike sort of breaking through the smog. On the other sleeve he has an artistic interpretation of the state seal. I wish I had pictures to share.

The other two Minnesota tattoos are creepy as hell, IMHO. On each of his calves he has my parents' faces, one on each. They are so creepy, but he likes them. Mom and Dad were born in raised mpls suburbanites, so that makes the Minnesota tattoos.

I see tons of good tats at local hip hop shows and at the Uptown bar. I highly recommend any of the guys at Uptown Tattoo (where I went for my last piece) or Electric Dragonland (some of the best color work I've ever seen).

Oh, and so sad that Steve left. He does awesome work.

Also, there's a fairly new place on 42nd and Lake in Longfellow by the Beauty Room that does some great work, too (blanking on the name right now).

Tom at Uptown Tattoo did my first and only tattoos, and he did an amazing job. I love that place.

I don't think I know anybody with Mpls themed tattoos.

i like leviticus on lake street. i've always enjoyed their work on me, plus they did a killer job for my friend and his gorilla tattoo, even though i think it was a stupid tattoo to get in the first place...

in other city related tatooos, i have a friend who has a leg band of the chicago skyline.

Lindsay, thanks, I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of that shop! Even though I love the guys at Uptown, I may get my next piece there.

If it could be done without hurting people or surrounding structures, I'd love to see someone burn down the damn halo building. To the ground with it.

I also have a funny Minnesota tat story, but I cannot share it. Trust me, it's funny.

Actually, Zach (tattooist) picked the formally known as "US Bank Place". This one was done at Leviticus, but he is now at Uptown Tattoo. He also did my other arm that is mostly of buildings in MPLS that are long gone, like the Minnesota Loan and Trust Bldg or the Industrial Exposition Building in NE.

This is taking regional pride too far, in my opinion. A Minnesota state seal tattoo?

I'd expect this in the south.

I hope nobody here has an outline of the state of Minnesota tattooed onto them because I really secretly hate state outline tattoos. I've seen Minnesota and Wisconsin ones and they annoy me because they are popular.

What do you have against Sparky, Rat?

I'd expect this in the south.

I know someone with tattoos "in the south," if you catch my drift...

I would like to see maz's version of the Minnesota State Seal. Instead of riding away, the mounted warrior would be counting coup on the invading wasichu. The Invisible Hand of The Free Market would be shown snapping its invisible fingers in approval of the whole affair....

Gee Bob! I'm surprised you haven't mentioned your corn guy tramp stamp...

Can someone tell me why the MN outline with a star in in memory of Paul Wellstone?

I took that photo of Pistol. I am happy you all enjoyed it. She's an excellent model and wonderful to work with. The bulk of her work is NSFW, but when you are at home I suggest you check it out. There are some real gems in there.
