It's July 4. So here's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" sung backwards.
May I be the first to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day!!!

My show is on today at 3pm! Tune in and make me being at work on July 4th worthwhile. :)
We're going to go roller skating on the parkway. Later, I imagine there will be juleps made from the fresh mint growing in the garden. Life is good. Happy 4th, Mnspeak.
America! Fuck yeah!
HAPPY 4th OF JULY MNSPEAKERS!!!!! yayz.
A belated "thank you," josie, for inviting me to be a guest on your show. It was fun.
Yea, Douglas. You are the King of Dancing DeRushas! Dance, newsie, dance!
Had yesterday off. Did some yard work, saw "Hancock." Not bad, but the first half is better than the second. Smith is very good as drunk superhero with bad attitude.
Did some weeding and planting this AM, now I'm wearing the retro shirt, the comfy jeans and had my first rum 'n coke. Next, brats on the grill, and Mrs. Lungs and I are gonna chill.
Love 'n peace, y'all. God Bless the Republic. Happy 7th Birthday, Mr. B (he got peanut butter teddie bear dog biscuits and a card). Love that dog!
wtfmn, I just twittered "America, fuck yeah!" Guess that's a common sentiment today.
Wow! The animated GIFs say: God Bless America. Nicely done.
I'm weeping red, white and blue tears at the sight of DeRush's patriotic can-can.
Went for a run along the river today and saw the remnants of last night's celebration. The park along West River Parkway was covered with litter, abandoned barbecue grills and tablecloths. On Stone Arch Bridge what looked like a new American flag was stuffed in a garbage can. People sleeping everywhere.
What a depressing scene.
Or, "The park along West River Parkway was covered with the tangible mementos of another fabulous 4th, including pieces of the fireworks and even barbecue grills and tablecloths, forgotten in the excitement of the evening. On the Stone Arch Bridge, what looked like a new American flag caught my eye, and I paused to consider what this holiday was all about. The party celebrating our nation's independence lasted so long into the evening, many of the celebrants were still present at morning's first gleam, sleeping peacefully after their loud and rowdy celebration of liberty and freedom.
What a uplifting scene.
We saw Wall-E tonight. It was really cute. Marvelous animation and a sweet story with some good humor and sharp satire built in. Five stars. My wife didn't cry, but it's not because she's a stone. You should have seen her after A Ring of Bright Water. Oh, man. For some people, it's robots. For others, it's robots.
Er, for others it's otters.
For me, it's spiders. At least when they're discussed in the closing chapters of certain novels.
OK Pollyanna, you can find joy in a new flag rolled up in a pile of festering garbage if you want. But it ain't flying with me.
Ugh, finally back from SF. Long drive punctuated by passing copious fifth wheels and campers going about 50 mphs. Bah.
Campers motorcycles galore on the way back across Iowa. It's 600 feet uphill from SE Iowa to NW Iowa. Wow.
For a moment I couldn't figure out why Alie drove to San Fran for the weekend.
Bix, when I was 8 my parents, grandparents and I did drive to California, actually. It was pure hell. The next year they all decided we should drive to Florida. Never. Again.
All right, it is time to expand my RSS Reader again with local blogs I haven't read before. If you kow of or have a local blog that produces local content (and it doesn't need to all be local content; just occasional), go ahead and pimp it here.…
WCCO has a list of where to see Independence Day fireworks; what are your July 4 plans?…
An interesting discussion broke on on Twitter today when it came out that Baja Sol's CEO is also the chair of the Republican Party in Minneapolis, prompting some to decide not to eat there (summary and links to the conversation courtesy of Heavy Tabl…
From the Health Insurance Resouce Center: Interviewed on Minnesota Public Radio, Kline says as far as he's concerned, a health reform bill with a public option is a no-go. His reasoning is that it would be ... too successful. (Via)…
At 8:30 AM on a Thursday in early July, I am unable to think of what books were recommended at the last MnRead meeting and in the last MnRead post for future MnRead discussion. So make your recommendations here. Books with local angles (Fitzgerald co…
The PiPress reports: At least, there's one good thing about a bad economy: Burgers are hot right now. Especially the cheap ones. In the past year in the Twin Cities, a mini burger boom has been under way. What new burger joints have you enjoyed? Wha…
