Feeling California...

What happens when a local girl records herself reacting to a movie trailer? She gets invited to the movie's wrap party, of course!

The producers at Pixar were so touched and motivated by Courtney's reaction to the Wall-E trailer that they flew her out to San Francisco to party with them. Naturally, Bunny joined her and they clearly had the best time on earth.

That's true. We did have the best time on earth. The Pixar people were really wonderful to Coco. And Wall-E is an incredibly sweet film -- I think the character might be the best Pixar has created.

Also, the short film that opens it, Presto, is perfect. Just pure slapstick mayhem.

I don't cry at movies....ever. But I did at wall*e twice...both times i've seen it.

This is an excellent story.

(And counteracts the idiotic conservative commentary about Walt Disney being a soulless corporation making a anti-bush hypocritical film.)

chuck09:04pm

Though I seem to lack to proper hormones to make me cry at robots - perhaps the plot of a future Pixar film? - I think it's so adorable that Courtney does, and that it led to this fantasy adventure. The sort that only usually happens in the movies.

I think it's so cool that they sent her all that swag AND then paid for her and Max to come party with them.

Max, too?

I also cried a little watching Courtney cry. It's kind of meta, no?

Max Sparber  url09:32pm

I actually paid for my own ticket out there -- their original invite was for Courtney, and although they were very gracious about having me come along as well, we weren't going to ask them to pony up for another airplane flight.

I smiled as it brought back the memories of Coco crying from joy the first time we scissored. There were robots there too.

Rat10:13pm

From the link:

"As some of you know, when the trailer first came out, my girlfriend, Courtney, burst into tears at the trailer. She was emabrrassed but somewhat amused by this, as so she made a video of herself watching the trailer on her computer, knowing she would start crying every time that little robot said his own name."

OK, so is this The Original Crying Video or a subsequent one where Courtney cried on cue?

Max Sparber  url10:15pm
Jul 1

There's only one video, Rat. Coco watched the preview on her computer and filmed her reaction.

Rat10:19pm

That's not answering the question, Max.

Jul 1

Man don't cry. Man only hunt and drink beer. Man SMASH Wall E!

Rat10:25pm
Jul 1

You know what I'm talking about, Max. This isn't a spontaneous reaction. It's a re-enactment.

Ang  url10:28pm
Jul 1

Not it's not, Rat. She cried the first time she watched the trailer so she filmed herself the second time knowing she would genuinely start crying again.

Seriously dude, what's your fucking problem?

mb2110:28pm
Jul 1

If it makes her cry every time she watches it, how is that a reenactment?

Max Sparber  url10:29pm
Jul 1

She's not acting, or pretending, if that's what you're trying to say. It was her genuine reaction to seeing the trailer again, and then again, and it's still her reaction when she watches the trailer.

Rat10:32pm
Jul 1

Seriously dude, what's your fucking problem?

Why do you have to speak like that? I'm just asking.

Max Sparber  url10:33pm
Jul 1

You weren't precisely asking, though, were you, Rat?

You're being weirdly assholish to my girlfriend. Is there some reason for this?

Ang  url10:33pm

No, you're not just asking.

Ang  url10:36pm
Jul 1

You have a clear pattern of crapping on just about every thread, and every activity or story some of us find interesting, so I seriously doubt you're "just asking."

You should try just ignoring things you don't approve of, or find stupid. You won't come off as such an unpleasant, rude, unhappy person.

I saw a woman crying. I thought it was (odd but) spontaneous. It clearly wasn't. It was something done for the camera.

Max Sparber  url10:45pm

Well, in that sense, you're correct. She deliberately filmed her reaction to the trailer, because she knew how she would respond, and it amused her.

Watching the video of her crying made me cry, too. What a great story! both what happened and how you told it. I can just imagine the Pixar folks working in a frenzy on a film and not knowing if it will be worth it, and then seeing Courtney's video.
I still cry every time I hear that song "When she loved me"from Toy Story 2, aliecat.
