My Bill Paxton Summer: That's right, a local blog about nothing but the excellent Bill Paxton
Overheard in Mpls: At last, someone who really gets the 16 bus route
The 16 is always a party!!!
Love that Bill Paxton blog...every time I come across a movie with him in it, I end up having to watch it, no matter how horrible. Can't deny the pull that is The Pax.
And I saw Indian Summer, too. And it was terrible.
A Bill Paxton blog! I will eagerly look forward to reading about his diverse roles in such fine films as Brokedown Palace, Lake Placid, Lost Highway, Independence Day, Mr. Wrong, Wyatt Earp, Malice and Sleepless in Seattle.
Bill Pullman was in Independance Day and Sleepless in Seattle. I get him confused with the Pax too...
Or, maybe you're making a joke? It's Monday morning, so I can't be sure...
It is a joke, and a dumb one. I was thinking to that Simpsons episode where they're in a movie theater watching a Julia Roberts romantic comedy.
Homer: "Hey, don't blame me, this movie is tired and predictable. You know she's going to wind up marrying Richard Gere."
(audience gasps in surprise)
Dr. Hibbert: "I thought she was going to wind up with that rich snob."
McAllister: "Ably played by Bill Paxton."
Homer: "That's Bill Pullman, you fool!"
(someone knocks Homer out with a 2-by-4)
Ahh, see, I get it now! Ha!
Who would win in a gunfight: Bill Pullman as Ed Masterson in Wyatt Earp, or Bill Paxton as Morgan Earp in Tombstone?
thanks, everyone! i am glad you're digging My Bill Paxton Summer! please participate, too. i love the Pax!
So, are you going to watch Terminator? (Or any of the movies he was in with really tiny role?)
yes, the goal is to watch all of them, no matter how bit the part.
the only acception is Boxing Helena, which is so dreadful i'd rather play in traffic than watch that again.
and if any of you have the film "Mortuary" (made in '83), can i borrow it? thankfully, i still have my VCR hooked up, as it's not on DVD.
Bill Paxton killed as evil-older-brother Chet in Weird Science.
How about a nice, greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray.
I still say (as do many other) "Game over man!" Which is a Paxton quote from Aliens.
awesome YTMND!
Speaking of tiny movie roles, I was very disappointed to find that Kathy Griffin made a brief appearance in Pulp Fiction. She was one of the women who witnessed Bruce Willis running over Ving Rhames in his car.
Yeah. She offers to help him and then turns and exits stage right when he produced a gun. It's a strange little cameo.
My favorite Bill Paxton role -- the video for Fish Heads by Barnes and Barnes, which he also directed and did the set decoration for.
I urge you to see Bill in Carl Franklin's "One False Move" a very under-rated caper film.
Plus he was in "Stripes!" That's the fact, Jack!
my favorite barnes & barnes video starring Pax is Love Tap. poor bill!
max...is that the "fish heads fish heads roly poly fish heads fish heads fish heads eat them up, yum" song?
I don't know why, but we sang that a lot in HS.
You could watch him in a trio of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies (Terminator, Commando, and True Lies) and follow it up with Predator 2 - a post Arnold sequel. Options abound!
I've never seen Pulp Fiction all the way thru from start to finihs, but everytime I catch part of it on TV, I see a part of it I've never seen.
grote, that is indeed the song from the video. Lyrics here.
Did anyone catch the play PAXTON VS. PULLMAN at the Brave New Workshop in uptown a few summers ago? Hilarious.
All right, it is time to expand my RSS Reader again with local blogs I haven't read before. If you kow of or have a local blog that produces local content (and it doesn't need to all be local content; just occasional), go ahead and pimp it here.…
