Land of 10,000 Dead Car Batteries
For those of you who DGAF about hockey or require your 8 nightly hours of beauty sleep, you missed one hell of a playoff hockey game last night. As a result, an alleged professional journalist at the Denver Post took some cheapshots at the Minnesota Wild and Minnesotans in general. That's the very definition of "bulletin board material."

That was awesome. I bet he and Reusse are having a hearty laugh over that today. It's also 180-degrees from what you get from a Wild TV broadcast.
How many sports-writers take this sort of poetic license?:

That guy is a joke! Are we sure that wasn't a reprint from the Rocky Mountain News. His homerism puts Sid to shame!
The Wild learned something last year against Anaheim. You need to play tough to win.
His homerism may put Sid to shame, but he can't hold a candle to the genuine article. I mean, how well can he mouth breathe...or chew with his mouth open?
Did you read the comments after his article? I'm assuming that's a whole lot of Wild fans chiming in. This series is fantastic. Let 'em all go to overtime. I think the Avs are wearing down.

Has this guy never seen Slap Shot? Has he never seen Patrick Roy use his stick to hack on anyone in/around/near the crease? Homer doesn't begin to cover it.
It was a "weird, lucky bounce" that allowed the Wild to win? Or, was it that the defense completely misplayed the damn icing?
I also like how someone in the comments brought up an article from 5 years ago where Kiszla bashed the Wild uniforms again. Laaaa-haaaame, dude. Just...lame.
I agree with joyride 100%. Wonder what this hack would have written if the "lucky bounce" went Colorado's way? And that article from 5 years ago ends with him saying the Wild would never beat the Avalanche in a series...hmmm, what ended up happening that year? Oh yeah, the Wild sent Roy out to pasture (or at least to go train his son to be a junior-hockey goon).

What a great game.
My only gripes about the game were that I couldn't watch it in HD(stupid blackouts), and that it took me well over an hour to calm down after in order to fall asleep.
Joyride, I too was ticked about the lack of HD. 45-- you people are killing me.
I just added Slapshot to my movie queue; thanks for the reminder. I'm just about ready to jump on the bandwagon. Wait, how long are the playoffs? Maybe I'll wait a month and THEN jump on the bandwagon.
Few things make this Gopher fan happier than to know that a former SCSU Huskie mis-played the icing that lead to the OT winner.

I'm sick and tired of falling asleep on the couch at the beginning of the 3rd periods of these hockey games. I keep thinking the Wild suck.
Actually, being in the eastern time zone now (and being old), I fell asleep before the game even started. Woke up at 3am to realize I didn't set the DVR, so had to settle for highlights. Thank goodness for the NHL Network (is it available in the Twin Cities)?
I've seen Slap Shot and Slap Shot 2. I actually own Slap Shot.
Speaking of hockey, does anyone know where a good place for pick-up hockey during non-working hours is?
Also, open skating? I need to get a good skate in, it's been a while.
Also, if anyone has an inferiority complex about their hockey team, it's going to be Colorado. Whaaa, it's cold here too. Whaaa, we like hockey just as much as you. Whaaa, we've had a hockey team as long as you...well, sort of, whaa. Why can't I get a big time sports journalism job, whaaa.
ooof, it's currently 5-0, and the effort being put forth by the Wild is embarassing.
They've even tried to goon it up tonight and failed.
If Denver hates us so much, why are they constantly advertising and putting billboards up for us to come visit there?
