I hope the two days makes it less of a zoo than last year. Another good shopping opportunity this Friday & Saturday is the MCAD Student and Alumni Art Sale.

Oh I am leaving work early to hit this up today! I am so excited and so afraid to blow all my holiday gift money on myself....

I want some of those cool coasters from the no-coast!

BTW: Minnesota has more (freshwater) shoreline than Hawaii. So bite us, coasties.

I'm torn between preparing for the storm, or spending it at No Coast. I'll probably do both.

Cool, maybe I can try to swing by Global Market this eve before it ends. I'm going to the MCAD art sale tomorrow. I'm trying to get myself in a good mindset to stand in line. In the cold. And not whine.

Errr. I was going to stop by MGM for some groceries on the way home. There is no way I'm going to fight no-coast for some meat and veggies.

Oh! Oh! And make sure you check out Mary Jane's Handmade while you're there. Super-adorable retro aprons made by my friend's 90-year old grandma!

Seriously - how can you not want to support a 90-year-old Minneapolis woman who decided to start a business NOW?! Check out all the goods on Flickr.

With a name like MaryJane's Handmade, I was thinking of something else.

Don't blame me, I grew up in the 60s....

Ooooo, here's the program for this years event. Complete with map and vendor location. Use the company color laser to print it out and enjoy!

Leigha: Those aprons are so very retro cool. I definitely have to check those out. And she gives me hope that I'll figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

Bob: Oh, you don't have to be a child of the 60's to know Mary Jane. Or 4/20. Or Doobie. Wait, maybe one just needs pothead brothers.

Those aprons are super cute! I think I might check it out tonight.

Yay! And the best part is that she takes custom orders... so if you want a different pattern or a different fabric or whatever, she's game. What a gal.

Last minute shopping? It's not even December!

I love what she is showing though. Her "Shaken, Not Stirred" is awesome. And I love the shape of the "Voliet Beauregard" - it's a cool party dress shape.

So excited to see her works in person.

AHHH! My friend just wrote about Mary Jane here , and now I am freaked out all the aprons will be gone before I get there tomorrow! She sounds awesome.

Yeah, those aprons really are fantastic. I'd love one or two but I don't even cook. *grin*

It's too bad this is only today and tomorrow; if the weather is as bad as predicted, making the drive from St Paul just won't be worth it.

I want's me an Adam Turman poster, but if the weather's bad, I'll just order one online...

I'm with gedward - last minute?

I haven't even thought about shopping yet! And those aprons rock. My grandma had one just like one of them.

aliecat, did you see the Adam Turman calendar for sale on lulu.com?

Oh, it's already snowing - I thought it was suppose to start later? Off to MCAD art sale and then to MGM.

Have a great snow day all!

I went down there today and I was just plain overwhelmed by how much great stuff there was for sale. Fortunately almost all of the artists had cards to take so I'll be doing some online shopping in the next week or so.

i went both days and all my money (about $100) went to Adam Turman and his collaboration with Giraffe Art + Utility.

i could not resist those coasters! or his posters. or postcards...

this was my first year attending the craft-o-rama and i really can't wait til the next one. it was a madhouse, but i loved looking at all the local peeps with their wares.

Thanks, J.

How did this happen right across the street and I knew nothing about it?

Someone we know practicing their testimony on Congressional hearings into K Street corruption?

Here's Giraffe's website:

Giraffe Art + Utility

Honeybun: I bought some coasters as well - both Adam Turman and Giraffe designs. Love them!

My friend bought the "Dead Rappers." Simultaneously sick and funny.

Started out at the MCAD art sale. Found a few pieces, but has anyone else noticed that the pricing at MCAD seems to have gotten, well, a little out of control? It used to be a place to find cool, inexpensive art by STUDENTS.

Next year, I will definitely have to spend more time at Midtown Global. The mix of crafters/artists was really cool.
