Dude Weather Subscribe to Secrets Minneapolis / St. Paul
You're in Mt. Holly, MN. Pop: 4. Don't like it? Go found your own damn town, then.
*sigh* Before this was on MNspeak I emailed Mark after he posted this on BoingBoing explaining how much of a non-story this was and that Fox9 was somewhat sensationalist. A website, a moronic ideology and a falsified city name on his drivers license is what all this comes down to. I didn't know that this was a story in the Rake too. *sigh*
Agreed - this is simply a guy who lied on his driver license application and guess what?!?! he is a marketer.
*sigh*
It's no more or less a "non-story" than one man's tale of buying an iPhone. But it is more entertaining.
I know the Mayor of Mt. Holly. I think I may have a button stating as much.
I met the Mayor at a bar one night and spent an entire evening talking to him about his "town." Legality aside, what he envisions for Mount Holly is great and would make any suburb better, whether it's legal or not. The articles linked barely mention anything he does in the name of the town, but if you spent some time talking to the man and listening to the "town activities" he plans, you would find a guy you would love to be your neighbor.
I'm bummed I haven't run into him since.
I remember the Mayor (aka "Mr. Mike") before he got the right prescriptions.
Soon, his early '90's work will be reprinted in hardcover by LaMano Press, Zak Sally's publishing arm...the complete RUMP, a plush review of a xeroxed zine that was meant to be found on bus seats.
Oh, those were the days!
All right, it is time to expand my RSS Reader again with local blogs I haven't read before. If you kow of or have a local blog that produces local content (and it doesn't need to all be local content; just occasional), go ahead and pimp it here.…
