The New York Times is reporting today that the Walker’s (relatively recently appointed) Deputy Director and Chief Curator Philippe Vergne is New York-bound (to take over leadership of the Dia Art Foundation). Which is interesting, considering how strongly he trumpeted the virtues of the local arts offerings at a very recent panel discussion on the State of the Arts in Minneapolis.
Latest comment — seriously: I'm agreeing with Bartleby. The Whitney is kind of a mini-Walker, at least among contemporary art aficionados. Hard to see that perspective from ou...

Rock the Garden’s a joke
This one goes out to Taylor, who’s hoping to score tickets to Rock the Garden (Andrew Bird, New Pornographers, Cloud Cult, Bon Iver): The Walker’s hosting a contest, in honor of artist Richard Prince’s joke paintings, in which they’re soliciting the best one-line jokes. Winner gets two tickets to the June 21 outdoor concert plus a pair of admissions to “Adventures in Mating” by Joseph Scrimshaw. Curiously, not many entries yet.
