Sunday Slideshow: Studio Visit with Kinji Akagawa

Kinji Akagawa has worked on multiple projects on the Minneapolis public art landscape, including the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden. Akagawa has also earned numerous awards; he was the winner of the McKnight Distinguished Artist Award in 2007 and contributes to Minneapolis’s art education mainly at MCAD where he’s also been honored for his notable career.

Sunday Slideshow: Studio Visit with Shawn McNulty

Shawn McNulty’s paintings can be found in many different corners of the country — Bill Clinton and Vesse Ventura even own McNulty originals. Locally, McNulty was one of the founders of the Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis, which has become a major part of the contemporary art scene in Minneapolis.

Sunday Slideshow: Studio Visit with Who Made Who

Who Made Who is a screen printing shop and gallery in North East Minneapolis where you’ll find the creative and colorful work of Amy Jo, Dale “TOOTH” Flattum, and Lonny Unitus. Besides limited edition posters and fine art prints that are hand screen-printed on site, the store has an array of handmade merchandise including greeting cards, calendars, books, t-shirts, stickers, and toys.

Sunday Slideshow: Studio Visit with Top Shelf

Since 1976 Top Shelf has been a staple for tailoring in Minneapolis. Top Shelf is one of the largest sellers of custom clothing in America.  Jon Meegan, on of the founders of Top Shelf showed me around the adorable house south of Lake Street on Lyndale Avenue.  The art of tailoring is a true craft and has excelled to bring only the best of quality.
