Aaron points us to Jonny Northside’s post about the KMOJ 89.9 FM/Delisi’s restaurant groundbreaking in North Minneapolis last night, which includes a video of self-styled community activist Al Flowers confronting RT Rybak at the groundbreaking. Rybak’s response: Ignore him.

Another video from a different angle, which shows just how itnent flowers was to interrupt the mayor, and just how intent Rybak was to ingore him.

MinnPost has a rundown on the non-Rybak candidates for mayor. You’ll be given an IRV ballot this year; who is your *second* choice? (or first for the Rybak skeptics). I for one long for the days of noble, proud beards in politics.

So St. Paul mayor Chris Coleman has declared that he won’t be running for governor. As the Minnesota Independent points out, Coleman’s reasoning may accidentally have created an awkward situation for Rybak, who has strongly indicated that he may run.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak discusses his Homegrown Minnesota initiative (”an initiative to develop recommendations for the City of Minneapolis to improve sales, distribution and consumption of fresh, locally grown foods to positively impact the health, food security, economy and environment of our City and the surrounding region”) with the Heavy Table: In this past decade, city tap water consumption has plummeted as people have switched to bottled water. There’s something deeply wrong with a system that takes bottled water from Fiji – which, by the way, has no public water system – and ships it halfway around the world in plastic which has to go into a landfill to people who could get quality water by simply turning on their tap. The system is ridiculous.
