Or, at least, he tried to, had trouble with his lawn mower, and, well, things got a little crazy: Dick Wagner of Wagner’s Garden Mart, 6075 N. Green Bay Ave., said shooting the mower didn’t help Walendowski’s odds of getting it repaired.

City of Luverne Not Above Bribery
No, city leaders aren’t accepting cash to look the other way while you pass around your best friends top secret hot dish recipe. The Luverne Chamber of Commerce is handing out incentives to folks willing to buy a home and live in their little slice of heaven (no snark here, Luverne is a lovely town I wave at on my way to Sioux Falls).
Perks include anything from six months of free Center Pointe Energy service, a free bucket of chicken (sign me up!), free hair cuts, and myriad gift certificates for local businesses. Luverne is about 30 minutes west of Sioux Falls, SD for those concerned about job availability, diversions, and shopping. What would it take for you folks to move out to the country?

Iowa: Not friendly or boring
College student arrested after tossing M&M candies at cop: The police officer took Sean McGuire, 20, to the Polk County Jail, but not before McGuire urinated all over the back seat of the squad car. Via: Obscure Store and Des Moines Register.
Latest comment — Joanna: Huh. He could have been charged with "hurling missles", like those kids in Wyoming.
Iowa slayings
I know it took place in Iowa, not Minnesota, but they are our good neighbors to the south. I am truly sickened and saddened by the murders of the Sueppel family in Iowa City. Media briefing here.

North Dakota News
Our neighbor to the northwest is the site of a dinosaur find. And I’m not talking about a bunch of bones either. I’m talking a mummified freaking dinosaur. “This is the closest many people will ever get to seeing what large parts of a dinosaur actually looked like, in the flesh,” said Phillip Manning, a paleontologist at Manchester University in England, a member of the international team researching Dakota. News from our weird neighbors
A Portage, WI man was arrested for his reaction to his 7-year old son refusing to wear a Green Bay Packers jersey during a playoff game. The father bound the boy with tape and taped the jersey onto him. That’ll larn ‘im.
In North Dakota, a judge ruled that a man’s commonly accepted use of a publicly accessible computer system constituted unauthorized access. Admittedly far-reaching analogies include being convicted of viewing a YouTube video without asking for YouTube’s explicit consent or opening MNspeak in your browser without written permission from the Bartels.

I Heart Radiohead
This is a non-MN post unless you recognize the impact today’s release of Radiohead’s new album “In Rainbows” has on all musicians. Essentially, Radiohead is allowing anyone to download the album for whatever you think it’s worth, including free. Personally, I’m planning to give $20 for it, which is twice what I’d pay on iTunes because to me to band deserves it. Hell, I’d give twice that. Good thing? Bad thing?
Latest comment — Tom B.: Yeah, I suspect that's true. It's clear downloading should have forced major change in the industry ages ago. I'm sitting here puzzling over an e...
Apologize for the Smurfs
If you watched the Emmys, then you saw Conan’s opening joke where he “crashed” on to the island where Lost takes place. The state of Kentucky called the bit tasteless and wanted an apology. Well NBC came out and apologized for showing it today.
Is this insane?
Should NBC be apologizing for something where the actual crash wasn’t even seen?
I fell off a folding chair once…does that mean I can tell the networks to never show the chair again due to my mental health’s fragility?
That being said…will the networks apologize for some of the horrible shows they’ve put out over the years?
