The New York Times’ odd fascination with Minnesota has been reciprocated by a local man — with extreme prejudice. Bob Collins from MPR sums up the story: The Times posted a photo essay of abandoned building projects. MetaFilter contributor unixrat, who happens to be a Rosemount resident named Adam Gurno, immediately declared that the photo looked faked, and put together an animated GIF demonstrating that one half of the image seemed to mirror the other in a way that was unnatural. The Times has since pulled the photo. The original MetaFilter thread can be found here, while a discussion about the Times pulling the image can be found here.

More NYT love for MPLS
Spotted while hitting the Times Website today. Not only does this article feature a home for sale in Uptown, but there’s a Prince shout out, too. Note the purple shutters: serendipity. I walk by that home all the time and spotted the MPLS connection from the thumbnail. Maybe the Times will come save the Strib? Oh, yeah… never mind.
