Blogger Tim Dachtera asks if the new law banning text messaging and data communications while driving is really making Minnesotans more safe. I still see people on the road texting all the time. Has anyone heard an instance of this new law being enforced?

Police Activity at RNC Convention

We have heard more than one point of view regarding the police crackdown on protesters at the RNC in St. Paul this week. I am wondering if anyone was there, and if so, what did they see? Were the protesters really being violent and threatening the safety of others, or was this simply a police crackdown on free speech at the request of the RNC? On a side note, I know that the police where I live are openly partial to one party over the other, so something like this might lead them to treat protesters differently, depending upon which party the protesters are demonstrating against. Is this the case in St. Paul — do the police favor one party over the other, or were the protesters truly out of control and threatening the safety of others?

This weekend U of M law grad Nick “The Goat” Thompson was on TV fighting, today he’s sitting for the Bar exam.
“I think I’m one of the best in the world, and Jake treated me like a little kid out there,” said Thompson, a law school graduate who faces the bar exam next week. “That’s the best mount I’ve ever felt.”

Proposed Legal Drinking Age: 18

KARE 11 reports on a proposal by Rep. Chris DeLaForest (R-Andover) to lower the drinking age to 18. “Land of 10000 Perspectives” says they’re “Idiots!” Also, the current laws on legal age in Minnesota.
I cling to the hope that we can all cast at least our first vote sober.
