Preparing for the zombie apocalypse
The Minnesota Daily profiles the Minnesota Association for Zombie Enthusiasts, “a collective of students on campus who not only share an interest in zombies, but also plan to create a ‘Zombie Apocalypse Plan,’ which would map out escape routes and survival tips should the University of Minnesota ever be invaded.”

Twin Cities Maker
Some of you may have seen MAKE Magazine, which focuses on Do It Yourself projects that generally involve technology of some sort (a sister magazine, Craft, moves away from wires and diodes, instead focusing on felt and yarn and whatnot). Now there is a local version, Twin Cities Maker, for Twin Citians who want to come up with their own projects. And it’s hardly surprising that a locals would be interested; after all, the new MAKE television show is coproduced by Twin Cities Public Television. For those curious about the sorts of projects that have emerged from MAKE, well, there are quite a few videos on their YouTube site, many of them quite fascinating.

Urban Spelunking
A fellow was arrested in St. Paul yesterday for illegally entering the city’s sewer system. Why would he do such a thing? Well, he’s a “mouser,” or one of a group of hobbiests who explore old caves, sewer systems, etc. Minnesota has its share of them, and the subject was even covered by a locally made documentary, but the activity is illegal and urban explorers have been arrested before. So what are we to make of this hobby? Is it especially more dangerous than any other sort of spelunking?
