Twenty-two-year-old Alex J. Wolters, of Faribault, pleaded guilty yesterday to stalking young Edina girls. Well, he pleaded guilty, but he still told the judge he was merely them for directions. Huh?

It seems to me the guy should have done a little more thinking before going to see the judge. Here’s the story:

Wolters was charged last May with four counts of stalking and four counts of attempted false imprisonment for allegedly trying to get the girls into his car. After his arrest, investigators found a partial roll of duct tape, a replica rifle used for firing paint balls and three condoms in his car, according to the complaint against him. Freeman said each item alone didn’t raise concerns, but taken together they were troubling.

Uh, yeah. And he claims to have been en route to a tattoo-removal appointment. Sure, these all seem like really essential things to have around for a tattoo removal.

Ok, let’s assume the guy really was lost. Why bypass the adults and go straight for the nine-and-under crowd, all girls? I’m guessing they don’t have tattoos, buddy. When asked why he didn’t call the clinic for direction, Wolters said he was out of cell phone minutes. But he was on the phone when police stopped him. Poor planning.

And if he was trying to get to a tattoo removal appointment, why was he asking the girls where Concord Elementary School was? And why was he asking them where the school was when the school was within his sight, just down the block? I mean, what does the school have to do with anything other than the fact that it means lots of young little girls around to lure into your car. Creeeeeepy.

Sad thing (yes, that’s my opinion!) is that Wolters will likely only serve up to six months in the workhouse, followed by a five-year probation and 10 years registered as a predatory offender.

Monique Dee McFarland, 34, a Minneapolis dominatrix, was charged with felony theft for robbing a 53-year-old blind man in a wheelchair a couple weeks ago.

The two originally met in a chat room and then took it to the real world, where McFarland pulled a knife, told him to take off his clothes, tied his hands to his bed using two neckties, and then stole his laptop, digital camera, lockbox, checkbook, keys, wallet, and cell phone.

According to City Pages, “She says it was all part of the game and he wanted to be tied up. We are guessing the stealing wasn’t part of his request.”

Apparently, a full moon makes for a gun-happy weekend. (Why do we use the term “happy” here? I’d like to think that no one wields a gun happily, but I’m most likely wrong.) Seven people were gunned down this weekend. Yes, seven!

On Friday night, at 10:30pm, police were called to a Fergus Falls-area trailer park, where a 29-year-old woman had been shot dead. According to Facebook, the gunshot victim is Mandy Kremmer of Fergus Falls.

A little over an hour later, in Minneapolis, police responded to a shooting outside of a party near 35th and Humboldt N., where they found17-year-old Alisha Neeley lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the neck. “She was taken to North Memorial Medical Center where she later died.”

On Saturday night, at 10:35pm, six shots were fired aboard a Metro Transit bus in north Minneapolis. Two boys, both juveniles, were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Seems buses are getting more and more dangerous lately.

(Also on Saturday, a woman was robbed at gunpoint in Crystal. Fortunately, she was not shot.)

On Sunday morning, at 6:30am, police were called to 2312 Blaisdell Ave. South, where they found a man laying, shot (at least) twice, in front of an apartment building.

At about 1pm, another man, in his 20s, suffered a non-life-threatening injury after being shot in the back at Broadway W. and Bryant, in Minneapolis.

And just before 2pm, a 17- or 18-year-old was shot in his car, while sitting with two other people, on the 800 block of Fremont, in east St. Paul. “He suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to Regions Hospital.”

WTF?!

Not a good weekend for the NRA in my book.

What?! So if we’re all filled up we should just let sex offenders slide?

Minnesota is one of 20 states to have a sex offender program; but it is the largest per capita in the country. Does this mean we have more sex offenders here? Hardly. It means we try to do something about it; we try to rehabilitate. But should we continue to put our resources into rehabilitative programs, or invest elsewhere?

Perhaps we should ask one of the boys sexually abused by former Minneapolis Park Police captain and longtime educator William A. Jacobs. Apparently, child porn charges have now been added to his roster as well.

Or perhaps we should look to our neighboring state, where a convicted sex offender strangled and stabbed his neighbor and her two teenage children in their trailer home. Clearly not rehabilitated.

In Burnsville next week, a forum is being held to discuss safety guidelines upon the arrival of new resident Dontay Lavarice Reese, 28, a Level III sex offender who is moving into the city. “Reese has a history of contact with juvenile female victims ages 13-16 that, according to police, has included penetration.” If he were my neighbor I’d sure hope he’d been through some kind of sex offender program. Wouldn’t you?

According to the Strib, sex sells, and all the arrests and police sting operations just don’t seem to be dissuading the “Johns” from their sex-for-sale endeavors.

Brad Sperling, 45, a veteran assistant coach with the White Bear Lake High School girls’ hockey team, became the latest to learn that anonymity can fade quickly when one is snared in a sting operation. He was nabbed Jan. 12.

Before him, there were the arrests of a south suburban pastor and of state and north suburban political figures. A Star Tribune review of six stings conducted since Jan. 14, 2009, reveals a total of 66 men arrested during the hotel sweeps. Only three were St. Paul residents.

This week former Prior Lake minister John Kameron Erbele, 36, pleaded guilty to charges of soliciting a prostitute. He will, however, serve no jail time in the misdemeanor conviction — simply probation, counseling, 24 hours of community service and “john school,” an educational program for men who solicit prostitutes.

What I really want to know, though, is…

is this really him? Oh, my!

And in Bloomington, police cracked down on prostitution at a therapeutic massage business. “According to a search warrant, an undercover cop was offered a sex act from the woman massaging him here last November.”

Happy endings!
