TC Sidewalks offers a photo essay of some of our cities’ buskers. Are there any local street musicians you are always happy to see? Any you flee from? I’m particularly fond of the saxophonist in downtown Mpls who will play four or five notes of a recognizable melody, say, “Danny Boy,” and then lose the melody, and then lose the rhythm, and then pretend to improvise for a while, and then get back to something recognizable, very briefly. It seems like he has been saxomophoning on Nicollet Mall for a decade, so it’s rather amazing he’s never managed to learn one complete melody.
