Mizna Presents Still/Life/Syria with Syrian Artist Osama Esid at Northern Spark

If you’re heading to Northern Spark, you’ll want to for sure check out the work of photographer Osama Esid and his images of Syrian refugees. Twin Cities Daily Planet interviewed Esid and shot a colorful and evocative video about his work that you should check out. “Instead of flattening his subjects, he build relationships and asks us to muster our moral agency to simply acknowledge them. For the 2015 Northern Spark, Esid presents 12 large scale portraits of Syrians displaced by that country’s brutal civil war. Instead of documenting misery and despair he says, ‘This is just temporary. Let’s take a souvenir shot to remember this time, because we have hope to go back home.'”
