Never doubt the sanity of those who take on an older home to give it its next 100 years. Though they might describe themselves as crazy for old woodwork and hardware, they’re the fabric of community—and just plain fun to talk to.
City homeowners and suburbanites alike flock to the Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour on the last weekend in April to get inside vintage homes, pick up professional referrals for their own projects, and marvel at others’ good fortune finding old-home salvage. 23 kitchens, 19 baths, 17 whole house remodels, 15 clever little additions and ways to carve out more useful space.
This year’s tour, Saturday, April 25 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 1-5 p.m. will also show several new lofts in historic buildings. Plan your free, self-guided tour of 50 remodeled homes from South Minneapolis to Dayton’s Bluff. Start at MSPHomeTour.com.
