The Lexington says it’s one summer away from rooftoop dining atop the iconic St. Paul landmark, affectionately called The Lex by regulars.

The Lex’s rooftop expansion plans, according to the STrib, include space for 70 diners and 10 at the bar, which of course, will not be dry, now that the St. Paul City Council signed off on a liquor license, subject to conditions. With booze comes more noise, and property values at stake, say some concerned neighbors with homes behind the restaurant on Lincoln Avenue.

The practically windowless dining spot’s business slows down in the summer months when Minnesotans jam patios and rooftops for the coveted al fresco experience. It will take about one more year of back and forth to approve the plans before we can sip a dirty martini with a view.
