Target CEO Says Company is ‘Neutral’ on Gay Marriage Ban

The questions about Target’s position on GLBT issues continue to linger. At a shareholders’ meeting yesterday in Pittsburgh, CEO and Chairman Gregg Steinhafel was repeatedly asked about the company’s political donations and position on Minnesota’s upcoming vote to include a gay marriage ban in the state constitution. The response was that the company has a ‘neutral’ stance on the amendment, but that Target will continue to make political donations which will be guided by a new policy committee created after the uproar surrounding contributions to conservative Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.
