If it weren’t after an impressive showing in 2011, Rhymesayers Entertainment’s Soundset hip-hop festival is poised to become a national caliber event in 2012 with its perfect mixture of burgeoning stars and veteran cult favorites; a dichotomy represented both in the Minnesota and national music communities. Marc Echo’s chauvinist mouthpiece Complex Magazine got the premiere for Soundset’s 2012 lineup, which is chock full of artists to get excited for.

National fest newcomers include Linkin Park-lover Lupe Fiasco, Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah & Raekwon, Black Hippy Kendrick Lamar, underground icon Aesop Rock, nasally New Yorker Danny Brown, and Southern savior Big K.R.I.T. Returning to the stage will be breakout 2011 fest performer Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as well as Minnesota music mainstays Atmosphere, P.O.S., and Astronautalis. Also representing the local scene will be Villa Rosa, The Tribe & Big Cats!, production crew Audio Perm, and plenty more. Hosting duties will be handled by Brother Ali and MaLLy.

Soundset will return to Shakopee’s Cantebury Park on May 27.
