Residents Upset About New Blue Door Pub Location

In an effort to address some of the concerns over the new Blue Door Pub location in Longfellow, there will be a public hearing tonight at the Longfellow Community Center to get resident input. The Blue Door owners, Jeremy Woerner and Patrick McDonough sent an explanatory letter to Longfellow community members, published on TC Daily Planet, explaining that they “are ecstatic and looking forward to building a respected business that we confidently hope will become a staple of this community.”

In it they also wrote that this location would have shorter hours to cut back on late-night noise and that the alcohol license they’ve applied for would require patrons to purchase alcohol with food. Even with the success Blue Door has had with its St. Paul location, Longfellowers are still concerned that introducing a restaurant in such a residential neighborhood may be a misstep. Others feel some new business blood is just what the city planning doctor ordered. Both views will likely be on display tonight at the public hearing starting at 6:30 p.m.

I live 1.5 blocks from the bdp minneapolis location and feel that it cannot open soon enough!  What a benefit to our community – enhancing neighborhood walkability, local business development and providing another place to meet our fellow neighbors as well as bringing positive visibility to our part of Minneapolis.
