A seven-month-old puppy suffered a “severe slash” after striking its paw on a wrought iron pole in a pond at Battle Creek Dog Park. The St. Paul owner urges others to take precaution and wants the park to drain the pond to look for hazardous items. However, park officials say that’s an unrealistic request and suggest the pond’s water levels are low since the drought. The 37-acre Maplewood farm turned dog park in the ’90s hasn’t seen other injuries. Citizen guardians patrol the area for hazards. Meanwhile, the poor little puppy has to wear a cone, so it doesn’t gnaw at the injured paw.
