MillerCoors Buys Out Mpls. Cider Brewer

In case you haven’t noticed, and judging by its .5 percent stake in the U.S. beer market you haven’t, cider has been exponentially growing in popularity as of late. And believe it or not, the Twin Cities has had a small claim to that fame since 2008 with Crispin Cider Co., the third-ranked cider producer in the U.S. market. Even though its brewery was located in California, Crispin HQ is located in Northeast Minneapolis’ St. Anthony Place. But with news that Crispin has been bought out by MillerCoors, the cider house that ruled will be consolidated into the Milwaukee brew behemoth’s craft-centric Tenth and Blake division, which includes Blue Moon and Leinenkugel’s. No word yet on whether they’ll be moving its business headquarters out of town.

If they don’t change the recipe, hopefully it will lower the cost and everyone will be happy! I love Crispin, but at $6.99 for a 4-pk, it’s a little spendy for an everyday drink.
