Kluwe Released from Contract with Vikings

You had a feeling it was coming; now it’s official. Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has been released by the team. Announced by his personal twitter account with a pithy: “So long Minnesota, and thanks for all the fish,” Kluwe had expected a change after the Vikings drafted punter Jeff Locke—a player worth one third of Kluwe’s $8.3 million contract.

It remains to be seen if Locke takes up his predecessor’s activist role on the team.

Pithy? “So Long and Thanks for All the Fish” is a great reference to a book in the Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series  and is completely apropos for this situation (unless it is over your head).
