Minneapolis tenants rejoice! It may have taken a whole decade of complaining to make change happen, but happen it did! According to the Star Tribune, long-time Minneapolis slumlord, Spiros Zorbalas, had all of his rental licenses revoked as a result of accruing 2,131 violations over the past five years. The revocation forced Zorbalas to sell his 38 properties.

Apartment Shop owner Steve Frenz bought the ill-functioning properties and began making improvements instantly; the tenants noticed. The city has not received a single heating complaint from the old Zorbalas empire since Frenz took over.

While this is certainly a victory for those who dealt with rodent infestations and cold apartments for years, the upgrade will cost tenants money. While Frenz promises a speedy turn-around time on complaints, he also promises rent increases.
