After 22 years, the Minneapolis Downtown Council is dimming the lights on the Holidazzle parade. It will only run eight nights this year—compared to last year’s 19—and will then be abolished and replaced with another holiday festivity in 2014.
The future of Holidazzle is unclear (the name may even cease to exist), however the makeover is promised to be bigger and broader to attract visitors to downtown Minneapolis year-round (via WCCO).
On average, 400,000 people bundle up each year to enjoy the twinkling lights of the floats; classic characters such as Pinocchio, Tin Man, and Peter Pan; and the Macy’s 8th Floor Santaland holiday display. Be sure to check out the parade this year on Friday and Saturday nights from Nov. 29–Dec. 21— it will be the last time to experience the show as we know it.
