In a piece that warms our Minnesota hearts better than any patio opening could, Rolling Stone named First Avenue the third-best “big room” venue in the country.

Based on an unofficial poll of managers, promoters, and musicians themselves (plus the inevitable whims of the RS staff), First Ave. beat out heavyweights such as the Beacon in NYC and Stubb’s in Austin, Texas. No doubt Prince’s legacy helped the venue’s climb to the number three spot, but anyone who has caught a show knows it deserves the honor on experience alone—they book great acts, the acoustics are fantastic, and there ain’t a bad seat in the house.
