Eden Prairie Native Helps Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup

Defenseman Nick Leddy helped the Chicago Blackhawks win a hard-fought Stanley cup series last night, the Minnesota native’s first championship in just his second season on the ice.

Leddy played for the Gophers, and was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the 2009 draft. But just a year later he was traded for Cam Barker, a move some fans are now regretting after Leddy doubled his rookie production in a shortened season.

There’s a chance the ninth Gopher to win the Stanley Cup might bring it by the Twin Cities: every player and staff member of the winning team gets 24 hours with professional sports’ oldest trophy.
