Week after week, Mike S. impresses us with the depth and breadth of his burger knowledge. Burger joints should be painting a mural for him! The Burger Hunter also documents his meaty exploits at the #GreatAmericanBurgerHunter tag on Instagram.

Up-town funk you up . . . right to the corner of Lake and Irving! And that’s precisely where this hunt takes place, at a glorious eatery named Lake & Irving. Once again, the menu will have you ordering two meals cause just face it, you’re a Minnesotan—very indecisive and you do need to build up for the winter. Just make sure one of those orders is the burger. The Cheeseburger (Lake & Irving) is fab! The meat comes from the legendary east coast purveyor of fine meats Pat La Frieda. So the grind is sus of some of the high-end fattier cuts. It’s smashed style two patty system. Crispy outer with light pink juicy inner. You know the routine. The meat is the big winner. It has a lovely flavor profile with all units coming correct. The bun is a brioche from Patisserie 46. It’s everything a bun should be and more. Much like a relationship, good buns can make it or break it. This one makes it all the way to the end. Holding strong has never tasted so good. The cheese is from our neighbor state and smothers more than an overbearing mother. Comes with a secret sauce and it’s lit! Go for the premium Duroc bacon, you’ll loke it. I did mine on the side this time. Had to hone in. The Twincy burger scene is a crowded field but this one certainly stands out.
