When we asked around as to which fancy (but not too fancy, we can’t afford some of that stuff) spot we should go to for lunch, the best suggestion we heard (from food local food reviewer Jason DeRusha) was Revival, the new Southern cooking concept spot in the former The Corner Table space and owners. Now the hype for Revival seemed, to us anyway, just under the all time restaurant hype high of Spoon & Stable, but we wanted to check it out anyway, since so many people were saying good things. Also, we’ve had amazing Southern food in The South, so we wanted to see how it stacked up. Well . . . believe the hype. The chicken is fantastic, the pimento cheese could be straight from North Carolina, and the hush puppies were probably our favorite item, which is crazy, but it’s true. Everything we tried was great, down to the lemonade, and our bill ended up being $30 a person, which isn’t too bad for such a big deal restaurant. Maybe most importantly, when we showed up for lunch, almost every table was full, and that made us very worried, but we ended up with a table right away (you should still call ahead).
