Sen. Cohen’s remark reminds me of the old joke “other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”

Love the “Other than + horrible thing + pollyanna thing” construct.

My boss once took a client out to lunch, and the client ordered a large meal + apps to bring home for leftovers. Client was open about this.

My boss’ assessment: Aside from the fact that she’s a glutton and a freeloader, she’s okay.

I do to. I’m going to keep it in mind and look for a instance where it might be useful.

I was opposed to the Legacy amendment (and the transportation one) because I didn’t want to restrict legislators’ use of revenue, but I’m retroactively becoming a fan.

Not because spending on arts, conservation, etc is more important than spending on GAMC, but because this session has demonstrated that, with a majority of Minnesotans on their side, the DFL legislative leadership is not able to make a revenue increase a reality.

It seems like amendments such as Legacy and Transportation are the only tools Minnesotans can use to pay for state government services.

I will now whole-heartedly support the Health and Human Services amendment and the Education amendment in 2010.

I don’t think they needed to include the arts part of the bill. It is very apparent to me that these are two unrelated things. MN conservation is very important and necessary for generations to come. I am not opposed to arts at all, I just think they should be treated separately.
