Ward 2 candidate is not the real Britt

The Charles Carlson story just gets stranger and stranger.

According to this column by CJ, Carlson claimed he was being harassed by the new boyfriend of his “ex” — who just happens to be Fox 9’s Jason Matheson, who was not happy to see his name in CJ’s column (then again, who is?).

More shoes to drop?

In this age, there is not excuse for accepting anything anyone says at face value. So much information is just a google away that so many things are easily verified. A news organization has access to even more powerful tools.

It is good to see that Mr. Carlson’s claims were checked. Good for you MNDaily!!!

It would seem that questions about Carlson began surfacing — in online comments — more than a month ago.

I can only imaging there are some red faces in the big league MSM that the Minnesota Daily scooped them on this. If not, there should be.

This is not the first time the MN Daily broke a big story. They did a piece on the extensive and expensive renovations to the President’s Residence (Eastcliff) that eventually led to the resignation of U of M president Kenneth Keller in 1988.

I’ve had dates google me — which was actually kind of fun because it led to some interesting conversations. One thing is for sure, though: No way would I make up stories about myself AND THEN RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE!

We all have Rashamon moments (different interpretations by different people of the same event) but Carlson’s story takes the cake. At least when I say I met Wolfman Jack, I’ve got proof.

I wonder, though, if any witness-protection participants have considered running for public office? How do they explain a past that no longer exists?

Wow.

He should have added, “After talking to my wife, Morgan Fairchild…”

I was shocked to see that he did not mention his invisible jet or teen sidekick.

I blame…tennis?!?

Even his stated reason for his withdraw from the campaign is a lie.

As Max said…Wow.

Tennis is certainly the work of Satan! Anyone for tennis?

Good. I was scared moronic UMN students would elect this numbnuts and replace our faithful public servant/Green party member.

The story is starting to spread.

The Blotter and the MN Indy now have it.

Remember, you read it first at MNspeak!  I got the story from Aaron Landry’s (@s4xton) Tweet , David Brauer at MinnPost also Tweeted on this about same time as Aaron.

Sadly, the Minnesota Daily doesn’t go on to report that the Charles Carlson campaign stole an e-mail list from Quorum, the Twin Cities GLBT Chamber of Commerce and a non-profit organization. That potentially places the organization under undue scrutiny for an illegal campaign contribution.

Cupcake on University Avenue also allegedly donated cupcakes illegally for a campaign event, which went unreported.

Carlson sent his boss as a “surrogate” (her words) to debate for him at a candidate forum, while Carlson was in Florida officiating a tennis match.

Then, a local blog received comments from an anonymous poster staying at a hotel in Boca Raton, Florida (verified through IP address ownership). The comments spoke to how great of a person Carlson is. Unfortunately, that anonymous poster was Charles: a call to the hotel informed me that he had checked out.

All of this is a moot point, but together speaks to the nature of Carlson’s character and the poor campaign operations. Minneapolis deserves better than that.

I think the DFL and others need to look at his participation in the DNC. He has a guardian and is not allowed to make decisions for himself, but he is allowed to make decisions for Minnesota?

And where is this guardian? I assume he shouldn’t have been allowed to file the paperwork to join the race himself either.

@kurtis: LOL Yeahhh! That’s the ticket!

Here is CC being featured in the MN Daily, before the wheels came off his campaign today. The money quote: “Is there anything Charles Carlson doesn’t do?”

that guy is awesome, I want to party with him someday, anyone that can come up with that kind of bullsh*t…sharing a creme brulee with Hillary f@#kin brilliant!

Ryanol: I don’t know about Charles, but I would definitely join you for crème brûlée at the Wilde Roast.

Hey, get a room, you two!

Dammit, now I want a crème brûlée at the Wilde Roast. They toast ‘em to order, you know.

Didn’t he also claim to be Norwegian Royalty at one point?

I don’t know. Who do you claim to be, Anonymous (not verified)?  If you are going to take shots at the guy, at least leave us a name.

Look, I can’t help but feel a little sorry for this poor guy, whose life is falling down along with this tissue of lies he built about his past.

This is a young man who has (reportedly) had some serious mental health issues in the past, I’m hoping he will get through this and emerge a better, wiser and healthier person.

I also feel bad for the guy, but there is a reason he has a guardian, and that is to protect him from himself. I’m hoping some state agency (ummm, mine?) is looking into this. He clearly needs a more involved guardian.

I think anon is confusing this guy with the Kid that was 23 and enrolled in High School a few years ago. I forget the rest of the detail but he was from Mankato and some sort of dubious sex offence or something and claimed to be european royality.

I think I know what anon is referring to, but as I have no details or proof, I’ll let it go at that.

< thinks something may have gone over his head?

I remember that Norwegian Royalty guy! A year or two ago! Got kicked out of school. IIRC, was too old to be there anyway. I’ll dig up the story when I can.

Pretty sure it’s a different guy, though.

Yep.

If you are a Minneapolis DFLer (aka urban libtard), your caucus meetings are tonite at 7 p.m.

The world belongs to those who show up, folks. Bonus: If you live in Ward 2, you could be the official DFL candidate for city council before the meeting is over…

I was shocked to see that he did not mention his invisible jet or teen sidekick.808

I’m mildly amused by folks talking about who tweeted or blogged the tweets first (all came down within about 30 minutes anyway). I got the facebook group email about the same time. Clearly the Daily has been working on this for a while and they did a great job with it.

My question is who actually believes that Charles Carlson is off continue his globetrotting, tennis-officiating ways? Point being even if that is what he’s doing, he has no credibility anymore.

From yesterday’s Blotter.

MN Daily to all other media in town: It must suck to be you.

I’m sure some in the MSM may say Carlson was really never a legit candidate, but I think agree with the Daily on this one — they dropped the ball on this story, big time.

According to this MinnIndy story, some of Carlson’s former supporters and volunteers are calling for a criminal investigation of the fake Britt.
