Target Turns Concrete Barriers into Beach Balls, Causing Concern About Injuries

Well, that’s unfortunate: Target had to remove the beach ball decorations from the concrete barriers in front of their stores because of concern about potential injuries.

I don’t think it was a bad idea in theory, but yeah, a six-year-old’s first inclination is gonna be to run and jump on that thing. Oops.

    “because they were causing injuries.”

No mention of injuries in the story, or after a cursory look through the comments section. Great opportunities for slapstick, though.

the Target spox said she couldn’t share “any specific information about incidents” that might mean nothing actually happened, or it might mean confidential settlements.

The 6th commenter says he  saw a boy get knocked on his ass after running up to grab one  of them. Not hard to see how that might lead to injuries if it happens often enough.

And all the commenters saying “My kid would never do something like that, because I”D supervise them”: 90% certain that your kids are the ones running around the neighbor hood shooting other kids and pets with pellet guns.

Because they’re being raised in some frontier, Tea Party, Sarah Palin-lovin’ gun toting environment, no doubt.

Can we really sue someone if our kid jumps on what looks like a beachball but is really a big red concrete ball?

i completely think this would be a sueable offense. hiding a concrete barrier inside a giant beach ball? it’s like an episode of punk’d for children.

You guys are assuming it’s a kid….I see a ton of beachballs at professional sports events and I don’t think any toddlers are smuggling them in.

I guess I missed where when you see a beachball in a public place you’re supposed to run up and kick it.

This is AMERICA still isn’t it?

@kwatt: Now that the MNGOP has their same-sex marriage referendum, maybe they can tackle the kicking-beachballs-in-public issue in some upcoming special session? 😉

Leave kwatt alone. Look at the 2012 GOP Presidential lineup. He’s suffered enough.
The Dems may have a Wiener in a crunch, but they ‘aint got a winner in the bunch.

I think it is stupid.  My kids always runs up to them and climbs on them.  No big deal.  It is my responsibility to watch my kids.

@champs, great idea, I see early retirement coming.  Well, you see it looked like a giant kickball, so naturally, I thought I would kick for the fences, now please pay me mucho dinero for my broken foot.
