It’s almost better that Moby doesn’t reveal the name of the Minnesota girl who inspired most of his recent album (as Ross revealed in his PiPress profile), because this way we can all pretend it’s the Roseville girl-next-door. But the mental picture of a young Moby in Bermuda shorts while vacationing at Lake Florida is simply not acceptable imagery for a family publication. How was the show? Well, let’s just say that it’s rare to get all those hot club kids into First Ave nowadays — and it’s fun to watch them all stand on the stairs while the flumoxed bouncers tell them to step back — have you kids ever been here? The show itself was surpisingly rocking, for a 40-ish vegan nerd electronic guy. Best part: he actually played “That’s When I Reach For My Revolver” off Animal Rights, which almost no one in the crowd understood was a cover, much less a punk cover, much less an Important Song That Even The Current Plays, Dude.
