Trocaderos closes, reminisce and lament!

That’s really low about the fundraiser…

I attended some GOP-related events there. They were good events, but the place was horrible in every way, IMO.

The problem with this place was not the space, but the crappy management. The doorguys were thugs and the waitstaff was rude. I went to a couple of different shows there for national acts that would have done great somewhere else, like the Dakota, but never got any publicity or anything at Trocadero’s.

The whole event center thing never really seemed to work. It is either a concert venue or a bar, or a bar that has bands, but an “event center?” WTF is that?

The smoking ban. There is no other possible explaination. (grin)

I can think of two possibilities: (1) according to today’s Pioneer Press web site, the club was sued 3 times for sexual harrassment and 2 suits were settled out-of-court and (2) why would a club that tried to make itself friendly to the GLBT community host GOP sponsored events during last year’s convention. Whatever the real reasons, and we’ll probably never know, I hope the staff, as rude as they could be, got paid in full.

Everything comes down to politics.

I’m guessing all of their former clientel can now be found at the Loop.

There’s a lot that’s wrong with this question, but for starters, let’s remember that our last GOP vice president has endorsed gay marriage, and our Democratic Party president opposes it.

I don’t want to grease the dolphin or anything, but Minneapolis reads the Saint Paul paper? No wonder the Strib is in trouble…

That’s an issue best left to Fake Larry Craig, Jack.

let’s remember that our last GOP vice president has endorsed gay marriage,

Not while he was in office with any kind of official power. I don’t believe he even (publicly) supported civil unions during that time. I only remember him to  refuse to discuss the issue.

It’s only now, when he doesn’t have to worry about any elections that he’s done that to any extent.

I can’t even begin to imagine the shit storm from the right wing blogosphere if Obama mentioned gay marriage.

Not because its gay marriage but because shouldn’t he be saving the economy.

Always a shame when any venue closes, especially if it leaves non-profits without a venue for their event and no place to go. If you are one of these people, or know of one, please have them contact me at 651-726-8822 at Wildside Caterers, perhaps we can help them find a suitable venue.

Any advice on how to go about trying to get my paycheck from these people??

I think you can just take any vehicle from Saxon Ford.

KaylK- Minneapolis’ Labor Board should have some ideas for you. However, if there’s no money and they incorporated, you may be out of luck if they owe a lot of money to other people.

Any one have any ideas how to get money I paid for a wedding reception in June 2010. Its the money my dad gave me…without it we don’t have a wedding.

I worked there as a cook for almost 8 months and left after the head “Chef” kept on with constant racist remarks regarding African Americans that would hold and attend events there, especially during one wedding in particular in February. It was a horrible work environment. I can’t believe the place hasn’t been sued or had more problems.

Head chef?? More like Cafeteria cook. Donny is the dumbest most condescending raciest and sexist to work at Trocaderos and that is quite an accomplishment considering the competition. He reminds me of an extra large version of tattoo from Fantasy Island, and now his Island is under water, I hope his big ass can swim!
